DRAWING WITH STITCH
In Person course - Deemouth Artist Studios Project Space, Torry, Aberdeen. Saturday 11th May, 10:30am - 4pm

Level: Beginner/Intermediate.
Perfect for beginners to embroidery, or for people familiar with embroidery stitching but looking to develop their own embroidery style.
Using her own unique creative approach, Fiona will show you several simple embroidery stitching techniques to create 'drawn' texture and drama on cloth using simple meditative hand sewn mark making.
You will leave with knowledge of several useful embroidery stitches and a stitch sampler that you can use as reference for your own future projects.
You will cover the following techniques:
- Getting started – setting up your hoop, handling threads, starting and stopping stitching
- Stab Stitch
- Applique
- Back Stitch
- Split Stitch
- Couching
- French Knots
- Fly and Feather Stitch
- Chain Stitch
- Satin Stitch
- Bringing your stitches together to create your own composition
Materials to bring with you: For this course all materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring along your own fabric, embroidery hoop, needle and threads if you wish.
Light refreshments will be provided. The day will include a 30 minute lunch break but please bring your own lunch.

Please take a moment to read our cancellation policy before you book: Unfortunately, our in person classes are non-refundable. Due to our small class sizes it is also very difficult to transfer your booking to a different date. If you cannot attend a class and are able to notify us at least two weeks before the class starts, it may be possible to fit you in on another date but this is not guaranteed so please give us as much notice as possible to increase your chances.
In the event that we are forced to cancel a class, we will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible and offer either a full refund or swap your booking to another suitable date.
