DARNING FOR BEGINNERS
In Person course - Deemouth Artist Studios Project Space, Torry, Aberdeen. Friday 24th May
10am – 12:30pm

Level: Beginner/Intermediate.
In this relaxed introductory in person workshop I'll demonstrate a number of darning techniques to allow you to use darning as a method to repair or lengthen the life of your treasured textile items.
You will leave with knowledge of this beautiful textile technique and the start of a small stitch sampler that you can use as reference for your own future projects.
You will cover the following techniques:
- Getting started – setting up your work, handling threads, starting and stopping stitching
- English Darning
- Honeycomb darn
- Chain Darning
Materials to bring with you: For this course all materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring along your own darning materials, needle and threads if you wish.
Light refreshments will be provided. The day will include a short tea/coffee break.

Please take a moment to read our cancellation policy before you book: Unfortunately, our in person classes are non-refundable. Due to our small class sizes it is also very difficult to transfer your booking to a different date. If you cannot attend a class and are able to notify us at least two weeks before the class starts, it may be possible to fit you in on another date but this is not guaranteed so please give us as much notice as possible to increase your chances.
In the event that we are forced to cancel a class, we will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible and offer either a full refund or swap your booking to another suitable date.
Please note: My studio and toilets are located up two flights of stairs. Please contact me in advance of booking if you have any accessibility requirements.
